To celebrate Free Comic Book Day this weekend, Sony and Marvel have announced they will be publishing a new comic book that serves as a prequel to Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Participating comic book stores in the USA will have copies for you to pick up, and the issue will also be available for download in the Marvel Unlimited app. It shall then be distributed worldwide at a later date.
A PlayStation Blog post about the special comic book teases that The Hood will be the main villain — in the comic book, that is, not the actual game — and the story will revolve around Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and MJ as they grapple with school, a journalism career, and the fact there are now two Spider-Men in New York. «In this story, their lives collide as Peter, Miles, and MJ attempt to balance their responsibilities to the city, and each other. They keep coming back to one of the main themes of the comic: is magic real?»

Marvel's Spider-Man writer Christos Gage penned the issue while the art comes from Ig Guara. «We know you’ve all been patiently waiting for news on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and we thank you for hanging in there with us,» narrative director Jon Paquette said.
