It didn't come as much of a surprise when it was revealed that Mortal Kombat 1 is skipping last gen. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are going to turn ten this year, and going by the Mortal Kombat 1 reveal trailer, the next game is looking to make the most of more recent hardware, rather than accommodate the old. However, this only made it more surprising when it was revealed that one less powerful console was getting MK1 at launch: the Nintendo Switch.
Now, given the slightly disappointing state of Mortal Kombat 11's Switch port, fans are worried that MK1's release on the console won't be much better. From fears about visuals and framerate to concerns that the port is a waste of development time, few have faith in the Switch version of the game. Many are confused as to why it's launching on the console at all, given that other modern Switch ports often come months after a PlayStation and Xbox debut.

The conversation kicked off on the Mortal Kombat subreddit after a user asked if Mortal Kombat 1's Switch port is likely to look better than Mortal Kombat 11's.
"Doubt it'll look good," says Reddit user TheTrueRipper. "The base game is 100 gigs and the switch [doesn't] even have 100 gigs of storage."
"NetherRealm is odd," agrees Chad4life_yt. "They release it on Switch which could barely run MK11, and they won’t release it on Xbox One and PS4."
ExaminationNo8923 also fears that the port won't work. "While it may 'run' I'm fairly certain the Switch would spontaneously combust if it tried to run MK1."
