Remember the age of Flash games that were purposely difficult to control? That's what Baby Steps reminds us of — only this one is in 3D and appears to have some sort of bizarre narrative. Devolver Digital sure knows how to pick 'em.
You play as Nate, a 30-something slacker living in his parents' basement, who is one day warped into a surreal landscape and with almost no ability to walk. As you can see in the above trailer, this looks to have attended the same school of design as Octodad: Dadliest Catch; just getting from A to B is a struggle, and that's just a straight line. The game is clearly built around this idea of simply getting the man to move through increasingly unusual obstacles. We should expect nothing less from Bennett Foddy, the mind behind the viral sensation, Getting Over It.
Anyway, it looks ridiculous. We kind of want to see where it goes, because it clearly has a story to tell on top of the awkward gameplay. We won't get to find out what it's truly all about until next year, though, when it launches on PS5. Are you excited for Baby Steps? Tumble head first into the comments section below.
