Sony has today revealed it will be part of the Tokyo Game Show in September, but it'll only be exhibiting with indie titles rather than any AAA projects from PlayStation Studios. Instead of being listed as part of the «General Exhibition Area» — alongside the likes of Capcom, Level-5, SEGA, and Square Enix — the Sony booth will be found in the «Indie Game Area».
Sony's positioning at the event both limits and expands its exhibiting possibilities. This means there won't be any first-party titles to play on the show floor like Marvel's Spider-Man 2, but some of the independent games it's been pushing might be. This could possibly include Little Devil Inside, Lost Soul Aside, Neva, Pacific Drive, and Ultros. For a complete list of exhibitors, click the link.
Of course, Sony keeping itself to the indie section of Tokyo Game Show doesn't mean it cannot host some sort of event around the same time. It's been suggested PS5 console exclusive Rise of the Ronin is targeting a release in early 2024, and a full reveal in Team Ninja's home country seems like the perfect opportunity for more details. In addition, games like Helldivers 2 still need to be dated.
