Baby Steps has been announced by a new indie dev team up of Gabe Cuzzillo, Maxi Boch, Bennett Foddy, the various minds behind games including Ape Out, Getting Over It and QWOP. Baby Steps will be coming to PS5 and PC in 2024.
The game casts you as Nate, and unemployed 35-year-old basement dweller whose total inaction in life frustrates his parents no end. Then, out of nowhere, he’s teleported somewhere where his only option is to put one foot in front of the other and do this thing called “walking”.
Baby Steps is a literal walking simulator, in the vein of QWOP, as you take this barefooted onsie wearer up and over a mountain, placing one foot at a time, and almost certainly falling flat on his face more often than not.
There’s also going to be some fun and quirky interactions with other people, depending on your actions, it seems. Oh, and there’s a “Fully dynamic onesie soilage system,” which promises to be weird and gross.
