Alan Wake 2 got its first unedited gameplay showing during Summer Game Fest, with Remedy head Sam Lake divulging more details on the upcoming survival horror title.
Sam Lake offered further details on previously revealed factoids about Alan Wake 2. The game lets you play as Alan and newcomer FBI agent Saga, who each sport separate but connected campaigns. Players can switch between the two at any time, with Saga exploring the pacific northwest while Alan tries to escape the Dark Place. Since players can change characters freely, this opens up a plethora of storytelling differences; you can even play the full game as one character if you choose.
The sequel’s shift to pure survival horror is shown off with the game’s heavy Resident Evil vibes as Saga riddles a terrifying killer with bullets while dodging his attacks. The trailer ends with some investigative gameplay, but we don’t get a long look at this part of the experience.
Alan Wake 2 launches on October 17 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via The Epic Game Store.
