The Witcher 3 sales have surpassed 50 million copies globally with sales of the franchise exceeding 75 million worldwide.
These impressive sales numbers were announced alongside CD Projekt Red's most recent financial results for the 1st quarter of FY2023. In a separate presentation for investors, the Polish developer and publisher detailed the sales of the game and franchise and provided an update on the distribution of the development teams on the developer's upcoming titles, including the new Witcher game (codename Polaris), project Sirius, and Cyberpunk 2077's Phantom Liberty Expansion. As reconfirmed by CD Projekt Red in the investor slides, the team will be showing off the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty expansion during Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest play days event this June.
Impressive numbers for the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (and the Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine expansion), and the franchise as a whole. Interesting to note is that The Witcher 3 is now one of the best-selling games of all time. Back in April of last year, it was reported that The Witcher 3 sales had surpassed 40 million across all platforms. This implies that CDPR managed to sell another 10 million of the title in just one year - quite the feat for an eight-year-old, but still marvelous, title.
