EA is splitting up and evolving into two separate organizations as part of the publisher's strategy for the future, CEO Andrew Wilson has announced.
The news was announced through an official press release, as published on EA's website overnight. As part of the company's next step for the future, EA will be split into two separate organizations which will both report to Wilson - EA Entertainment and EA SPORTS.
EA Entertainment will be run by former Chief Studios Officer and EA Worldwide Studios lead Laura Miele. She's been with EA for over 22 years and has fulfilled various positions at the company, including General Manager for Star Wars business as well as Senior VP of Global Marketing. Miele also worked on various multi-platform titles IPs including Need for Speed, Dragon Age, and Battlefield. "EA Entertainment encompasses extraordinary owned IP, including some of the world’s most beloved blockbuster franchises, as well as licensed IP through powerful collaborations", Wilson said. "We’re building the future of interactive entertainment on a foundation of legendary franchises and innovative new experiences, which represents massive opportunities for growth.
As previously announced, Respawn's Vince Zampella remains to serve as head for the Battlefield franchise, while also leading Respawn Entertainment (which includes Apex Legends as well as EA's Star Wars titles).
Alongside the appointment of Laura Miele as President of EA Entertainment, Executive VP and Group General Manager of EA Sports & Racing, Cam Weber, has been promoted to President of EA SPORTS. In his position, Weber will be leading the organization responsible for EA's Madden, Super Mega Baseball, F1, PGA Tour, NHL, UFC, and EA's rebranded FIFA series. "Cam Weber
