For the longest time, EA Games and EA Sports have existed under the same Electronic Arts umbrella, one focusing on majoritively single player narrative experiences, and the other working on sports title such as FIFA, Madden, F1 and all that good stuff. However, EA has announced that it will soon be undergoing a massive internal reorganization by splitting EA Games and EA Sports into their own major studios.
This announcement was shared with employees and published on the official EA website earlier today. It also revealed that EA Games will be rebranding to EA Entertainment, which suggests that it might be intending to venture into other mediums besides video games. EA's former chief operating officer Laura Miele will take over as President of Entertainment, Technology, and Central Development at EA Entertainment, which will oversee studios such as Respawn, BioWare, DIC, Full Circle, and EA Motive as well as all the title they're working on.

Meanwhile, EA Sports will stick with Cam Weber and will branch off and oversee the development of the publisher's many, many sports titles. EA Sports will continue to look after the newly acquired F1 series, the recently rebranded EA Sports FC title, as well as the Madden and NHL series.
As for the reason behind the restructuring, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has claimed it's so that the publisher can "empower" its creative teams, which will allow them to make "faster and more insightful decisions around development." It's also claimed that both studios will have more control over decision making and budgets.
