The next free Epic Games Store titles have been confirmed.
Homeworld Remastered Collection and Severed Steel will be free to claim from Epic’s PC marketplace from July 27 until August 3.
According to its Epic Games Store listing, Severed Steel is “a stylish single-player FPS featuring a fluid stunt system, destructible voxel environments, loads of bullet time, a unique one-armed protagonist, and a dark electronic soundtrack.”
Homeworld Remastered Collection and Severed Steel will replace The Elder Scrolls Online and Murder by Numbers, which are now free to claim until July 27.
The Epic Games Store gave away 99 free titles last year (up from 89 in 2021). These games had a combined worth of $2,240 and users claimed over 700 million free titles (down from 765 million in 2021), according to Epic.
The company recently suggested players should expect to see further high-profile Epic Games Store exclusives announced in the future.
Blackbird Interactive and Gearbox Publishing recently delayed Homeworld 3 again. Originally planned for release last year before slipping to the first half of 2023, in May the game was pushed back to February 2024.
Announced at PAX West in August 2019 to coincide with the franchise’s 20th anniversary, the 3D real-time strategy game is set in space generations after the events of Homeworld 2, which was released in 2003.
