Every time a new trailer or poster for The Super Mario Bros. Movie drops, fans get to work on finding new easter eggs. In the latest poster shown off to confirm the movie will be getting its own Direct next month, there appears to be a reference to Donkey Kong Country's Rambi the Rhino.
The new poster gives us a better look at the movie's take on Rainbow Road. That Mario Kart and its most iconic track will be a part of the movie was revealed via a prior trailer, leading some to claim the inclusion of a rainbow means the film will be “woke”. Months later, I'm still not sure where to even start with that one.

As for that Donkey Kong Country reference, GameXplain's Andre Segers is the one who spotted it and shared their discovery with the world. Segers has zoomed in on the hood of Donkey Kong's kart, highlighting the badge you can sort of see on there. It's blurry since the kart is so far away, but now it has been pointed out, the badge is almost certainly a reference to Rambi the Rhino.
For those of you who haven't played Donkey Kong Country, the 1994 game played host to a number of animal companions DK and Diddy Kong were able to ride. Rambi was one of those animals, and not only is it a cool reference to Nintendo history, likely one of many that will feature in the full movie, but it may also point to what Nintendo and Illumination have planned if the Mario movie is a success.
