Lego has teased plans to introduce Donkey Kong to its Super Mario universe.
A Donkey Kong figure will launch this summer, but it’s currently unclear if it will be accompanied by a jungle set or something similar.
The upcoming product was teased at the end of a Lego Super Mario livestream on Friday, which is viewable below.
“The Lego Super Mario universe is about to get even bigger with more adventures, exciting characters and new worlds,” host Jack Gardner said after Donkey Kong was revealed. “Keep an eye out for more details coming soon.”
The presentation opened with a first look at one of the newest Lego Mario expansion sets, Dry Bowser Castle Battle, which will launch on August 1 and is pictured below.
As well as its numerous Lego Super Mario sets, which are mainly aimed at younger Mario fans, Lego has previously released three ‘premium’ Nintendo sets aimed at builders aged 18 and over.
TheLego NES was released in 2020, followed by a Lego Super Mario 64 themed question block in 2021 and a Lego Bowser in 2022.
Recent copyright strikes by Lego appear to confirm that it’s working on a Lego Zelda set, though it’s unlikely we’ll hear any official announcement of this during a presentation dedicated to Mario Day.
