Cyberpunk sandbox Low-Fi has a new trailer fresh from the Future Games Show Spring Showcase. You can probably guess what has influenced the game, it looks very much like a certain movie, right down the the holographic Atari logo projected on the side of a building.
The game is described as “A next generation virtual reality simulation in which you as the player patrol the streets (and the skies above them) solving mysteries, fighting crime, or giving in to corruption.”
The plot has you playing as a Low-Fi, a person who is unable to get in the giant VR simulation that most of the world now live in. Instead, your character, a police officer, has been transferred to a particularly crime ridden section of the city where other Low-Fi’s live.
LOW-FI is a new kind of experience designed specifically for VR. More akin to a holodeck program than a traditional game. The massive open world has a lot to do, but it’s up to you as the player as to what you want to do. This is a completely non-linear world. You can patrol the skies handing out tickets, hang out in the arcade and play games, or try your luck at the casino. How you earn and spend your credits is entirely up to you.
There are tons of upgrades to purchase, from weapon upgrades, to toys for your companions. We want you to roam the world and enjoy yourself the way you want to. We set the stage, but the story is in your hand
Low-Fi is set to release this year for PC VR and PlayStation VR2.
