has announced that he will make his directorial debut with a horror comedy movie titled Haunted Heist.
Howery is known for playing Rod Williams in Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Marcus Parker in the Vacation Friends movies. His filmography also includes 2018’s Uncle Drew, 2018’s Bird Box, 2021’s Judas and the Black Messiah, 2021’s Free Guy, 2023’s Good Burger 2, 2024’s Harold and the Purple Crayon, and more.
Now, per Deadline, Howery is making his feature film directorial debut with Haunted Heist. He will also star in the movie alongside Girls Trip’s Tiffany Haddish.
In the movie, “four estranged friends reunite at what appears to be a typical house,” the synopsis reads. “But one friend has ulterior motives; he plans to rob the place and needs their help to find an antique worth a fortune. But the house is straight up haunted, and the group must squash their differences to survive the night and an insane pack of ghosts.”
Filming on Haunted Hiest, which is written by Carl Reid, is expected to begin in January 2025. The Coven will be launching worse sales for the project at the American Film Market.
Howery will also produce Haunted Heist alongside Josh Feldman, Sean King O’Grady, Feras Majid Shammami, and Jesse Ford. Priscilla Ross Smith and Kendall Anlian serve as executive producers.
“I’m so excited to be working on this project in front and behind the camera,” Howery said in a statement. “It’s going to be so much fun.”
The Coven’s Smith added, “We are always looking for something fun and fresh. The best Saturday night movie that an audience could hope for. Haddish and Howery will knock this out of the park.”
A release date for Haunted Heist has not yet been announced.
