2024 had its fair share of exciting things, including all the updates and new details on Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Director Hideo Kojima reminisced on these in a New Year’s Eve tweet, including the developer’s Tokyo Game Show stage event (its first in five years).
However, he also revealed hurdles to the upcoming Xbox-exclusive horror game OD and the PlayStation-exclusive stealth action title Physint. “For OD, we developed the game and had actor and environment scanning. In the second half of the year, scanning and filming were suspended due to the SAG strike. Casting was also suspended for Physint due to the strike.”
Kojima hopes to resume both this year. However, this may explain OD’s absence at The Game Awards (especially since it was revealed at the 2023 show). Neither title has a release date or gameplay, so full-fledged reveals may be a way off.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launches this year for PS5, with the release date to be announced at an unknown date. Though published by Sony for the console, Kojima Productions owns the IP as of November 2024. Head here for the latest details on the sequel and what to expect.
