A movie based on the PlayStation game Ghost of Tsushima is in the works, with John Wick director Chad Stahelski signed on to direct. In a new interview, Stahelski said the game has a «really interesting» story, coupled with great visuals, and this could make for a strong film.
«Ghost of Tsushima is a really interesting story if you really dive into the tale of Jin Sakai and what the film is really about. And you tie him to these amazing visuals. You can already tell from the John Wick films that I love color and I love composition,» Stahelski told Discussing Film. «To really try and not only live up to but exceed what the game has done with its visuals is completely fascinating to me. So that’s something we’re currently researching and working on.»
Among other things, Stahelski is working on how they can «push the color palette» on the Ghost of Tsushima movie. «How can you bring that world to life in a very realistic and grounded way?» he said. «I love Ghost of Tsushima, it's one of when my favorite properties.»
Before this, Stahelski said the success of HBO's The Last of Us TV series demonstrates that a good video game adaptation «can be done.»
«You've just got to give it love and attention. And Ghost of Tsushima, of probably all the other video game [movies] in development, I think that's the one that’s going to land,» he said.
In addition to the Ghost of Tsushima movie, Stahelski is attached to direct a movie based on the Rainbow Six series and starring Michael B. Jordan.
Whether or not the Ghost of Tsushima or Rainbow Six movies ever get made is uncertain, though. Stahelski
