, the game has been rated by the ESRB, suggesting that a release for the game could be imminent. It’s unclear if it will be a physical or digital release, but it appears to suggest that it will include the recently released Castlevania-themed DLC.
While playable on PS5 thanks to backward compatibility with the PS4 version of the game, this release would mark the first time it’s been playable natively on PS5. It’s unclear if the version will include the other non-Castlevania DLC as part of the package.
Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania is a co-production with Konami, owners of the classic IP.
When interviewed by IGN in relation to the new crossover, Konami assistant producer Tsutomu Taniguchi said that buzz around the Castlevania franchise was “really motivating for Konami.”
“We tried to bring back the games that people loved and cherished with the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and the Castlevania Advance Collection,” Taniguchi said.
“We also brought back Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night for our PlayStation fans and on mobile, and launched Grimoire of Souls on Apple Arcade to celebrate the lore of the franchise.
“But we know that our fans always want more, and we do too, so this opportunity to have this amazing crossover with Dead Cells was impossible to pass up on. ”
