The iPhone 15 Pro models will see daylight in the first half of September and leaks related to the devices are pouring in. It was recently reported that the iPhone 15 Pro models will come with the 3nm A17 Bionic chip with 6 CPU and 6 GPU cores for better computational and graphical performance. It is now being coined that the iPhone 15 Pro models with a higher storage configuration could come with 8GB of RAM instead of 6GB of RAM.
It was recently reported that all iPhone 15 Pro models will feature 6GB of RAM, the same capacity as the current iPhone 14 Pro models. A leaker by the name of Unknownz21 on Twitter states that Apple has tested 6GB and 8GB RAM configurations for the iPhone 15 Pro models with an A17 Bionic chip. He goes on to suggest that it is unclear if Apple went with 6GB or 8GB of RAM with the iPhone 15 Pro.
Since the company tested both RAM variants on the iPhone 15 Pro, it could mean that the 8GB variant will be available on higher storage variants. The base model iPhone 15 Pro with 256GB of storage could come with 6GB of RAM and the 512GB and higher storage variants could come with 8GB of RAM. In another scenario, only the 1TB and 2TB storage variants of the devices will get 8GB of RAM while the rest of them will house 6GB of RAM.
According to the leaker, the RAM configuration is labeled as "POP, COLL + 6G" and "POP, COLL + 8G". The extra RAM could offer faster multitasking compared to the 6GB variant but with Apple's optimizations set in place, the difference might not be that huge. Apple could also offer 8GB RAM on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro as well, ditching the 6GB option altogether. Furthermore, it could be the other way around as well as the company could have moved away from the 8GB variant
