Immortals of Aveum was only announced last December, and we haven’t seen much of it since then. Interestingly though, while it may have snuck up on people out of nowhere as a new IP from a new indie studio, it’s been in the works for a while. Developer Ascendant Studios – founded by Bret Robins, who directed the original Dead Space and multiple Call of Duty games at Sledgehammer Games – was founded back in 2018, and its debut title has been in the works for five years at this point.
In fact, Robbins recently also confirmed in an interview with MinnMax that the fantasy first person shooter is close to wrapping up development, while also talking about how Ascendant Studios had to grow during the course of the game’s production.
“I feel great. The game’s awesome, we’re finaling it now,” Robbins said. “I think people are going to really, really like it. It’s something new, something original, so yeah, I’m super excited about it. It has been five years, I can’t believe it’s been five years. In fairness, when I founded the company, there was one person, so we had to grow quite a bit. And that can take up some of the time.”
Immortals of Aveum is set to receive its full reveal on April 13, so we’re set to find out plenty more about the single player magic shooter. The game is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and according to a recent rumour, will be launching on July 20. Stay tuned in the coming days for more details.
