Discord makes it easy for users to block or mute someone to stop receiving unsolicited messages from that person. Unwanted messages can be disruptive and hamper the workflow. It could also be a problem when a user is trying to concentrate on a game and is confronted by a barrage of DMs that could hinder gameplay. Discord offers a quick fix for this, enabling users to block or mute specific people on the platform. The process is easy and can be done from either the website or the mobile app.
Launched in 2015, Discord is the preferred communication tool for gamers, but it can also be equally useful as a replacement for other communication tools like Slack or Microsoft Teams. It not only offers instant messaging services but also audio and video calls, as well as the ability to share media and other files privately and securely. The service is available on the web, and there are also dedicated apps on Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and Linux.

To block someone on the Discord website, right-click on the person's name, and from the pop-up menu, select Block. The selection will be auto-saved and the blocked person will no longer be able to communicate with the user. To block someone using the mobile app, long-press the person's name and then hit the three-dot overflow menu in the top-right corner of their profile page. Tap on the Block option in the pop-up menu to block that user for good. In some cases, long-pressing on someone's username could open a slide-out menu instead of their profile page. If this happens, choose Profile on the slide-out menu to bring up the profile page and then proceed to block the person as described above.
