Pokemon: The First Movie actor Jay Goede agrees with a popular fan theory concerning the existence of multiple Mewtwos. Pokemon, created by Japanese entrepreneur Satoshi Tajiri, grew to become a worldwide sensation during the 1990s. Shortly after the introduction of the initial Pokemon video games, the trading card game and the television show hit the market, furthering international interest in the franchise. Riding the wave of success, Pokemon made its first big screen debut in 1998 with Pokemon: The First Movie — Mewtwo Strikes Back.
In the movie, scientists genetically engineer a new Pokemon named Mewtwo to be weaponized. Things go awry, however, when Mewtwo refuses to comply, embarking on a journey of revenge against humans. Luckily, thanks to the actions of Ash Ketchum and his friends, Mewtwo realizes the error of his ways and devotes himself to a more peaceful existence. Mewtwo has only made limited appearances in the series but some continuity issues, voice variations, and slight differences in personality have prompted many viewers to believe there are actually multiple Mewtwos in Pokemon.

Although Mewtwo appeared briefly in the animated show, Goede was the first to give voice to the character in the Americas. Goede portrayed Mewtwo in The First Movie, leaving a deep impact on early audiences. The actor has moved on from his time with the franchise, but is still enjoying Pokemon from a viewer’s perspective.
