The final Solar Fragments for Destiny 2’s Season 17 have been announced by developer Bungie, but they’re locked behind a community goal. Season 17 of Destiny 2 introduced Solar 3.0, a rework of the Solar subclass similar to the Void 3.0 update released earlier this year. This means that all Solar subclasses have been converted to the Aspects and Fragments system that was initially introduced with the launch of the Statis subclass. With the release of the Solar 3.0 rework, only the Arc subclasses have yet to be moved to the new system.
Destiny 2’s Aspects and Fragments system gives players more freedom to customize their subclass to their liking or playstyle. Aspects are class-specific items that enhance the functionality of subclass abilities or even offer additional actions altogether. On the other hand, Fragments are class agnostic and further boost a subclass’s stats or abilities. The new system also gave players access to all of an element’s grenades. The Void 3.0 rework let players unlock all of Destiny 2’s Void grenades and use them with any of the three subclasses for that element.
