Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 already seems to be fixing season 1's biggest injustice. The Netflix live-action adaptation of Winx Club, a popular Italian cartoon that previously aired on Nickelodeon in America, has gotten flak due to its departure from the original source material. However, an early teaser of the upcoming Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 is bringing back a beloved character from the original show.
Like the original Winx Club, Fate: The Winx Saga focuses on Bloom (Abigail Cowen), a teenager from Earth who discovers that she's a fairy with the ability to control fire. Bloom must now go to Alfea—a special school where fairies learn to hone their magic—and ends up befriending her fellow roommates: Aisha (Precious Mustapha), Stella (Hannah van der Westhuysen), Musa (Elisha Applebaum), and Terra (Eliot Salt). However, Fate: The Winx Saga makes major changes from the original. While the animated series was lighthearted, Fate: The Winx Saga takes on a darker tone, dealing with more mature subjects such as sexuality, mental health, and the horrors of war. This departure from Winx Club has been met with mixed reviews, especially since Musa's character, presented as Asian in the cartoon, is played by a seemingly white actress, while Flora, inspired by Latinx pop star Jennifer Lopez, seemed to be replaced by Terra, who's also white.
