Marking the second animated adaptation of the long-running franchise, Star Trek: Lower Decks initially debut to mixed-to-positive reviews from critics, with praise directed towards its more humorous approach while criticism was aimed at its failure to broaden the series. Season 2 would be met with far better reviews from critics and audiences alike, citing the better embrace of its own tone and story as setting a new path for the series.
