The Rings of Power star Benjamin Walker teases Elrond's story in the upcoming series. Written by J.R.R. Tolkien, Lord of the Rings is one of the most acclaimed and popular fantasy book series of all time. In 2001, Peter Jackson’s adaptation of The Fellowship of the Ring debuted in theaters and revamped interest in Tolkien’s timeless work. Then, in 2017, Amazon announced it would produce its own Lord of the Rings adaptation and ordered a multi-season series with The Rings of Power.
Set in a timeline thousands of years before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Rings of Power takes place in an era known as The Second Age. Beginning with the downfall of Morgoth, marking the conception of the One Ring, and ending with the defeat of Sauron’s army, The Second Age offers plenty of fresh faces for the saga while detailing the origin of characters featured in Jackson’s trilogy.
