The showrunner of The Boys reveals the one moment of their sexually explicit «Herogasm» episode that gave Amazon execs pause. The Boys is well known for being an irreverent and graphic show, both for its depictions of violence and sexuality. The series, which is based on the DC/Wildstorm comics of the same name, began airing on Prime Video in 2019 and is currently airing season 3. It follows the exploits of a team of vigilantes hellbent on bringing down the superhero team The Seven, and the ensemble cast includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Jessie T. Usher, and new addition Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy.
The most recent episode of The Boys aired on June 24. Titled «Herogasm,» it adapts the controversial Boys comic of the same name. Described by one teaser as «not suitable for any audience,» the plot involves a superhero orgy. The sexually graphic episode pushes the envelope even by the standards of The Boys' usual fare and was highly anticipated by fans and curious newcomers alike.
