Stephen and Christine are a dynamic duo in a new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness deleted scene. The Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel acted as a continuation of the story threads put forth in WandaVision, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Loki season 1. The film centered on Benedict Cumberbatch's titular sorcerer as he tries to protect multiverse-traveling teenager America Chavez from Wanda Maximoff, who has become corrupted by the Darkhold, while also learning of the intricacies of other realities, including the existence of the Illuminati.
Alongside Cumberbatch, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness marked the MCU returns of Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg and Rachel McAdams. The film also marked the MCU debuts of Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, Patrick Stewart as a variant of Professor Charles Xavier and John Krasinski as Reed Richards, the latter of whom served on the Illuminati alongside Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter, Lashana Lynch's Captain Marvel and Anson Mount's Black Bolt. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, helmed by Sam Raimi, was met with generally positive reviews from critics upon its May release and was a box office smash, grossing over $943 million to become the highest-grossing film of 2022 thus far.
