Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness landed on Disney Plus in June, and despite having to share the streaming spotlight, Marvel fans have been quick to find details that can easily go unseen in movie theaters, including a rare slip concerning the Avengers Tower.
Prior to Top Gun: Maverick clearing the one billion dollar mark in box office earnings, the Doctor Strange sequel had been this year's most commercially successful blockbuster, a milestoneThor: Love and Thunder will be looking to break as well. Doctor Strange 2 went up on Disney Plus on June 22, the same day as the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale and Ms. Marvel's third episode. Yet, only few days later after that, new easter eggs and curiosities have begun to pop up on the internet.
How Doctor Strange 2 Makes Spider-Man: No Way Home Even Better
Ironically, one of these Doctor Strange 2 easter eggs happens to be of a pretty big scale. MCU Direct noticed during at least one shot of the movie’s opening sequence, Sam Raimi's brilliant New York City features the very real Metlife Building, which is located where the Avengers Tower would normally be in Earth-616. Ironically, Tony Stark's former headquarters has long been the subject of speculation among Marvel fans ever since Iron Man himself sold the building to yet-to-be-revealed parties, which could turn out to be a key character in Phase Four or later.
Although the former Stark Tower has shown up in later Marvel Studios films, such as Spider-Man: Homecoming,and is still referred to as Avengers Tower in the MCU, it’s a mystery what kind of plans Kevin Feige and company have for the iconic skyscraper.
