According to The Lordof the Rings star Dominic Monaghan, he and his co-stars cared for each other very quickly on the set of the film series. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is widely considered one of the best ever made, and are some of the most successful fantasy films of all time. Based on J.R.R. Tolkien's stories of a fellowship of Middle-earth dwellers on a quest to destroy the all-powerful Ring, the Peter Jackson-directed movies turned the author's work into an awards juggernaut and global sensation. In Lord of the Rings, Monaghan plays Meriadoc «Merry» Brandybuck, a hobbit who aids his cousin Frodo Baggins on his quest. Merry is joined at the hip by Pippin Took (Billy Boyd), and the pair of hobbits are some of the movies' most beloved characters. Monaghan has recently taken on another character of literary origins, voicing Sherlock Holmes' nemesis in the Audible podcast Moriarty: The Devil's Game. The podcast plays with conceptions of the iconic character, and even finds Monaghan reuniting with his LOTR co-star Boyd.
