Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 4 is one of the more polarizing seasons among fans, with new additions Carlton Gebbia and Joyce Giraud de Ohoven dividing opinions. Both Carlton and Joyce were one-season wonders, but neither of them was a bad addition by any means. Carlton, in particular, is an example of a come-and-gone cast member who managed to make a wild impression during her short time on RHOBH.
As well as introducing two new faces, RHOBH season 4 was the first without Adrienne Maloof and Taylor Armstrong as full-time housewives. It marked a new era for the show, moving it forward and trialing a cast shake-up. Carlton 's involvement was a shake-up in itself, as she introduced her Wiccan faith and Gothic-inspired home.

Carlton's preoccupation with and dedication to her faith was a stark change from the usual on RHOBH, a show in which seasons prior to Carlton's arrival was known for its displays of lavish lifestyles and extravagant dinner parties. Now, the cast was met by a woman whose priorities and interests seemed to be much stranger than theirs, and the show took a rather enthralling turn. It was the first and only time the words «yes, I'm a witch» have ever been muttered in RHOBH history. On one hand, Kyle Richards was predicting that Brandi Glanville would get too drunk and «go to the dark side» in terms of her feud with Joyce. Meanwhile, Carlton was introducing herself and assuring viewers that when it came to her Wicca faith, «I have practiced dark, but now I practice light, and that's all I practice because I have children. I would never go to the dark side. Not again.»
