Actress Blake Lively is officially onboard to direct Seconds, the upcoming feature film adaption of the graphic novel by the same name from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World creator Bryan Lee O’Malley. The 2014 graphic novel, Seconds, sees a young talented chef, Katie Clay, whose life has taken an unexpected turn when she learns that she can fix her past mistakes simply by writing them down, ingesting a mushroom, and then going to sleep. Katie quickly begins abusing her newfound ability to problem solve her own life, which naturally complicates things even more for herself, while unknowingly disrupting the equilibrium of time and space.
Now, per The Hollywood Reporter, Blake Lively has signed on to direct the live-action adaption of Seconds for the big screen. Edgar Wright, who wrote and directed the 2010 Scott Pilgrim film adaptation, has penned the upcoming project’s script and will also act as a producer along with Marc Platt.

Lively first took a seat in the director’s chair last year for her work on Taylor Swift’s “I Bet You Think About Me” music video, which earned Lively nominations for both directing and producing at the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards. The upcoming film, Seconds, will officially mark Lively’s feature film directorial debut. The 2014 graphic novel of the same name was O’Malley’s first work following wrapping up his Scott Pilgrim six volume series in 2010, the same year that the film adaption quickly earned the writer a cult following.
