Arrowhead Game Studios has released another patch for Helldivers 2, with update 1.006 now out on both PC and PS5. The patch aims to fix a few troublesome game crash bugs, while also laying the groundwork to resolve the persistent matchmaking and server issues that players have experienced since launch last week.
The previous update from the start of the week had to be rolled back on PC, so this will hopefully redress the performance problems that patch had introduced. The updates so far have been able to target server load and game log in issues so far, but matchmaking has remained a problem that they are working on. Update 1.006 should improve the experience and “likelihood of success”, but more improvements are to come.
The root of the problem is that Quickplay matchmaking is trying to fill co-op groups of just 4 players, and as there’s tens, if not hundreds of thousands of players all searching at the same time, problems are occurring where players are being sent to try and fill the same slots. On the Known Issues, Arrowhead say that you may have better luck trying to join an active lobby that’s visible on a planet, instead of using the more general Quickplay options.
