Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, has confirmed that the game's performance mode issues are planning to be fixed in a later update.
For most games, the debate between whether to use performance mode and focus on higher frame rates or fidelity mode for cleaner and more detailed graphics is a tough one. That's especially the case in this generation of games where most releases focus on their visuals, but Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth made that tough decision a lot easier.
Ever since the playable demos for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth were released, fans noted that, while the performance mode usually maintained a steady 60fps, it also made things look washed-out and blocky, with textures being notably lower-resolution than in the fidelity mode. Considering performance mode is usually the most popular way to play a game, this has left a lot of fans unhappy and hoping for change.
Well, it looks like all of our very specific wishes are going to be granted soon. As highlighted by Twitter user Genki_JPN and originally reported by One More Game, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's director, Naoki Hamaguchi has openly talked about the issues and promised that changes are being worked on for a future update that seems to be coming soon.
Hamaguchi noted that the team has been asked a lot of questions about whether performance mode is going to be fixed in the future, and that the team hears those complaints and is working on an update that improves it. He added that he doesn't have a specific release date in mind currently, but that it shouldn't be "far away from now". It seems like the update should be launching within the next month or so in that case.
“We’ve received a lot of feedback on whether the graphics in the performance mode will be improved or not. We hear you, and we are currently working on an update patch to improve that aspect. I don’t think the release date would be far away from now.”
