Dragon Ball Z fans aren't particularly impressed with what we've seen so far of Xenoverse 2's current-gen graphical upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series.
The last few months have undoubtedly been some of the busiest in Dragon Ball gaming history, thanks to the release of a new trailer for Sparking Zero, the seemingly final DLC expansion for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (which is awesome, by the way), and the long-awaited release of the current-gen update for Dragon Ball FighterZ. It's not slowing down any time soon, though.
Back in 2023, it was confirmed that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 would be getting a current-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series, although it wasn't revealed at the time what kind of changes would be made alongside the new version. Yesterday, Bandai Namco announced that the update is coming on May 24 and that it'll have save transfers, without giving too much more away about what to expect.
It did give us a brief glimpse at the updated graphics in action, though, as seen in this comparison video. While Kakarot's current-gen update made quite a difference to the game's visuals, the same can't be said about Xenoverse 2, as the only real difference shown in the video is some stray blades of grass swaying in the wind.
As you can imagine, this has led to some discourse in the Xenoverse community, with a lot of players making fun of the minimal update to the graphics. Twitter user SLOplays shared a meme that shows Mr Krabs making fun of the fact that the grass is the only difference, while Burcol mocked how minimal the changes are by replacing the blade of grass with a massive leaf flying across the screen.
Other players were a little less kind to the update , calling the graphical change "terrible" and saying that they can't even see a difference between the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of the game and the original.
