Fans have just gotten a new look at the upcoming Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero in a new video presentation, including some of the new gameplay mechanics being introduced in this long-awaited sequel. The Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi (or Sparking, as they are subtitled in Japan) games rank among the most beloved titles in the iconic Dragon Ball franchise, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a new entry since the release of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 way back in 2007. Bandai Namco finally answered their wishes during The Game Awards 2023 with the announcement of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.
Just like the past Budokai Tenkaichi games, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will allow players to recreate their favorite battles from the Dragon Ball franchise or even create some of their own pulse-pounding dream matches using a massive roster of heroes and villains from both the classic Dragon Ball Z anime and the more recent Dragon Ball Super series. Over the past few months, fans have gotten to see some of Sparking Zero’s playable characters, along with a few nods to other Dragon Ball media like the old theatrical films.
Bandai Namco Entertainment America recently posted a Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero showcase presentation on its official YouTube channel, hosted by producer Jun Furutani. After thanking the fans for their positive response to Dragon Ball: Sparking Zeroso far, Furutani shows off some gameplay footage of Goku and Vegeta battling it out at the site of their very first confrontation on Earth in the Dragon Ball Z anime. The resulting fight contains all of the high-flying and hard-hitting action fans expect from a Budokai Tenkaichi game, with the two Saiyan heroes unleashing almost all of their trademark attacks before transforming into their powerful Super Saiyan Blue forms.
