Some fans believe that the classic movie version of Broly could be included alongside his revamped canon version in the Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero roster. Shockwaves were sent throughout the DBZ gaming fandom when a new Budokai Tenkaichi sequel was announced during The Game Awards 2023, and since then Bandai Namco has been slowly revealing which iconic heroes and villains will be returning in the upcoming Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. There has been plenty of new Dragon Ball material released since 2007’s Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and Sparking Zero has already confirmed content from the more recent Dragon Ball Super anime.
Few characters have built up quite the notoriety of the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly. This incredibly powerful rival to Goku has been included in countless Dragon Ball video games, whether as the original version introduced to fans in the DBZ films of the 90s or the reimagined take from 2018’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly. The latter has already been confirmed as a playable fighter in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, leaving fans to wonder if the classic Broly will be featured as well.
A possible clue might be found within the character page on the official Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero website, which has been updated in light of this month’s batch of roster confirmations. As noted by The Gamer, three of these slots are given to Broly, though they are specifically marked as “Broly (Super)” to verify that they correspond to the canon version of the character from the Dragon Ball Super continuity. Certain other Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero characters like Goku and Vegeta also carry this designation in certain slots, meant to separate the versions of them with the powers they acquired in the later Dragon Ball story arcs from their earlier selves.
While nothing has been confirmed, some fans are taking this as a sign that both incarnations of Broly will be playable in the upcoming Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. After all, both Brolys were included in Dragon Ball
