The banished prince of the Fire Nation is on his way to in a new DLC. Coming April 24, the latest DLC adds Prince Zuko to Nickelodeon’s crossover platform fighting game. He’s the second of four fighters added by the $24.99 Season Pass or available separately for $6.99.
All-Star Brawl 2 developer GameMill Entertainment showcased Zuko in a new trailer on Monday. While not the fastest fighter and weak in recovery, he makes up for it with some devastating attacks. Zuko’s strengths and weaknesses are summed up well by his Neutral Special Attack, Standing Dragon Punch. It’s a powerful close-range attack that can KO most opponents in one blow. However, its long charge time makes it easy to dodge, so it takes some thought to use effectively.
Zuko’s other most interesting feature is his dual swords, which players activate by pressing Down Special. His standard fire-bending light and charge attacks are already pretty fast and powerful in All-Star Brawl 2. However, switching to swords makes them quicker and more powerful. Players can also perform powerful combos by delivering one or two light fire attacks before switching to swords.
The swords are also throwable projectiles. Players can get them back by picking them up off the floor, and the blades return automatically if they go out of bounds. While the trailer doesn’t draw attention to it, it looks like the swords become an item pickup once dropped. If so, other players might be able to pick it up and use it against Zuko if his player isn’t careful.
However, sword throwing isn’t Zuko’s only ranged attack in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2. His Side Special launches a Ring of Fire to the left or right, with the Slime version firing in both directions. Zuko also has a charged Up Air attack and can launch himself into the air with his Up Special. However, the latter ability also leaves him vulnerable as he falls back down.
