Arrowhead Game Studios has released a new patch for Helldivers 2, reportedly in advance of a major server upgrade.
On Twitter, Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt made this claim:
“Patch going out now. Highlights include resolved matchmaking and prep for increased server load. Let’s gooo!”
We will share the full patch notes below, but included in the notes is a line that says: “Improvements to our client > backend communication for better backend performance.”
If you’re thinking now’s the time to log back in to play, however, this is where we warn you, this patch brings a host of new problems that Arrowhead also reveals. For example, the game will just automatically disconnect you while playing, for no reason. There will also be a login rate limit when too many people log in, which means Helldivers 2 players should expect to have even more problems logging in.
So Helldivers 2’s server capacity issues aren’t fixed just quite yet. However, it does seem that Arrowhead has managed to put in the work to get their server capacity raised. While it isn’t as immediate as other companies have managed to do, it certainly looks like Arrowhead got some sort of assistance from Sony from some way to accelerate the process.
Hopefully, players won’t have to wait too long to experience those larger servers, and maybe even start playing the game properly from that point forward.
