Guilty Gear Strive is adding Lucy from anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners to the game next year.
Following an earlier leak of the trailer, developer Arc System Works confirmed at Evo 2024 that the guest character will be added to the fighter in 2025.
While no extended gameplay for the character was shown, Arc System Works did show off a trailer for the game’s fourth season of content, which you can watch below.
Season 4’s fighters will include Guilty Gear X veteran Dizzy, who is currently planned for October. Venom, who also first appeared in Guilty Gear X, is planned for next year, as is Unike, a new character.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners was released in September 2021 and was a hit for both the streaming platform and CD Projekt, which saw a huge increase in sales of Cyberpunk 2077 on the back of the anime’s popularity.
Speaking at the time of the show’s release, CD Projekt’s chief financial officer, Piotr Nielubowicz, said, “the popularity of the anime series, along with positive reception of the update, visibly affected unit sales of Cyberpunk”.
CD Projekt Red‘s Japan country manager Satoru Honma said in 2022 that there were no plans to continue the story of Cyberpunk Edgerunners, which was co-developed by the game studio and Japanese animation firm Studio Trigger.
