It's been a while since a new entry in the series, but there's good reason to believe that a reveal of the next game could be happening in the near future. released in 2019, so the signature series hasn't yet made a current generation debut with a new mainline game on the Xbox Series X/S. There isn't anything quite like its bulked-up brand of third-person shooter gameplay, and as the gap between games nears the five-year mark, it definitely feels like time for a new entry.
As reported by, voice actor Liam McIntyre provided a potential update on in a tweet referencing a reveal in June. McIntyre plays JD Fenix, the protagonist whose canon fate has been unclear ever since a choice made at the end of the fifth game.

The obvious candidate for the reveal is an Xbox showcase that's planned to happen in June, originally revealed by the official Xbox X (formerly Twitter) account in February. This event is following a pattern set in the past several years, presumably corresponding with the digital Summer Game Fest event that has essentially replaced the officially defunct E3 event. As the return of a major Microsoft exclusive franchise, showcasing in a major Xbox presentation makes sense and tracks with E3 reveals for past games in the series.
The specific date for the June 2024 Xbox showcase hasn't yet been confirmed, but an educated guess can be made based on the pattern set so far. 2022 and 2023 both saw Microsoft's showcase land on the Sunday following the weekday kickoff of Summer Game Fest, and this year's main event is happening on June 7, which would make June 9 the main candidate for an Xbox presentation.
