Ridiculous racing game Faaast Penguin will slip-and-slide to PS5 from next week, when it’ll launch for free on Sony’s new-gen system. The game enjoyed a successful beta test last weekend, which was tried by over 10,000 players, according to developer Historia. It’ll initially release on Sony’s system and PC, before following on Nintendo Switch and Xbox with full crossplay.
And it's free-to-play
For those who haven’t been following this particular release, it’s a toboggan-style elimination-based racer, where you need to overcome obstacles in chaotic downhill events. You can play solo, with up to four friends, or in 40-player online events – and there are cosmetics to earn and unlock.
With the market for live service multiplayer releases quite saturated, it’ll be interesting to see whether this catches on. The gameplay is legitimately enjoyable, though, and it’s got a throwback aesthetic that reminds us of the early PlayStation era, with its expressive penguin characters and vibrant environments.

I’m not going to lie, this genuinely looks good.
It’s coming out faaaster than I expected.
