In May this year, Nintendo confirmed that it would be officially unveiling its much anticipated next-gen console sometime before April of 2025, but since then, the company has been entirely silent on the topic. Some reports had suggested that the Nintendo Switch 2 (or whatever it is that the console ends up being called) would be unveiled sometime in September, but after that didn’t happen, many have grown skeptical whether Nintendo intends to announce the console at any point this year.
According to a prominent leaker, however, an announcement in 2024 is still very much on the cards. PH Brazil, who has leaked several details related to the Switch 2 over the course of the last few months, recently took to the Famiboards forums and reiterated that the console is still set to be announced sometime this year. “Nothing has changed since the last time I spoke about this… a week ago? I still think it’s being announced this year, yes,” the leaker wrote.
Of course, when exactly in 2024 the console will be announced is anyone’s guess, though we’re already a week into October, so it’s not like there’s long left in the year anyway. One way or another, we’ll know soon enough.
As for when the console will release, as per previous reports, the successor to the Nintendo Switch isn’t going to release before April at the earliest, if not even later.
A recent leak showcased new renders and revealed alleged details on the upcoming console. Read more on that through here.
