As the year comes to a close, it's becoming more unclear whether a Nintendo Direct will be released before the end of 2024. Directs are always highly anticipated as the main source for Nintendo's biggest and most exciting gaming announcements. However, after the absence of a Nintendo Direct during its typical September slot, the first time in years this has occurred, doubt has been cast on another major presentation being broadcast before the new year.
It's all but confirmed that Nintendo is in the midst of a transitional period at the moment. As the reveal of the Switch 2 edges ever closer, Nintendo's current console is seeing a drop in momentum as the company heads into 2025. And, as preparations begin for Nintendo's bold new era, it could mean that fans are left in the dark about the company's future for quite some time.
