Apple’s M4 MacBook Pro lineup that includes the 14-inch and 16-inch versions, will reportedly launch on November 1, but before the grand unveiling, a review of the smaller portable Mac has been posted on YouTube in what is possibly one of the craziest surprises to come across before the year ends. The video was uploaded by a Russian YouTuber, showing that the machine features the same design as the M3 versions, but you get a decent performance bump thanks to the M4.
Prior to the review finding its way on YouTube, we reported about the M4 MacBook Pro having gone on sale in a private Facebook group, with its retail box showing that the machine featured 16GB of unified RAM and 512GB of storage. Well, interestingly, the unit that Russian YouTuber Wylsacom got his hands on sports the same configuration, implying that he might have been the one who initiated the transaction in the first place. Coming to the unboxing, the M4 MacBook Pro bears no difference from the M3 models, which was to be expected, so the only thing to be excited about is the chipset upgrade.
Fortunately, that upgrade should be more than sufficient to justify a purchase from customers because the M4’s single-core and multi-core capabilities are beyond impressive. In a Geekbench 6 run performed in the video, the MacBook Pro obtains a score of 3,864 and 15,288, which matches the results that we talked about in a previous leak, hinting that the same person might have uploaded the scores. The SoC in the M4 MacBook Pro performs slightly faster than the same silicon powering the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models, suggesting that the active cooling fan might have given the M4 more breathing room.
