Obducite Will Be the Only Masterworking Material in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred

Masterworking Changes in Patch 2.01/2.02
The big news in Diablo 4 Masterworking is the elimination of Ingolith and Neathiron! Now, all of your Masterworking will be done with Obducite. There will still be up to 12 ranks of crafting — you just won't have to convert materials anymore!

Developer’s Note: Constantly needing to transmute Masterworking materials between 3 different rarities felt like a chore, so we've consolidated them into 1 unified material.
We also received feedback that Nightmare Dungeons were tedious to run, as most of the reward was baked into finishing the Dungeon. This made speed the only metric used to measure success. By replacing the Nightmare Dungeon's primary reward with something grindable like Obducite, every part of the Dungeon now provides a meaningful reward. From events to elite packs to bosses, everything has the chance to drop Obducite.
Farming Obducite has changed, too, and will be less of a grind. The primary place to get Obducite as of Season 6 is Nightmare Dungeons, and it drops practically everywhere in them! Blizzard gave the following list of places within Nightmare Dungeons where Obducite can be found:
- Resplendent chests
- Normal chests
- Miscellaneous Interactive Objects, e.g. Ambient Corpses
- Breakable Objects
- The Butcher
- Treasure Goblins
- Local Events
- Elite Packs
- Bosses
It should be noted that Nightmare dungeons will no longer drop Glyphs. Players can find those in The Pit going forward.
Some additional changes coming to Masterworking include:
- The Gold cost for Masterworking Ranks 5 — 12 has been reduced by approximately one-third.
