The next major update for the popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV launches in May, and producer Naoki Yoshida has provided new details in the latest lengthy “Letter from the Producer” livestream. Entitled “The Dark Throne,” update 6.4 will continue the game’s main story, as well as add a new snowy dungeon (complete with adorable polar bears), Raid, Unreal Trial, Duty support for a number of additional dungeons, and more. You can check out the full Letter from the Producer stream right here, although be aware that, as always, it’s very long and full English captions aren’t available yet.
Here's a rundown of what you can expect from Final Fantasy XIV 6.4…
Player Versus Player Updates:
In addition to the details about Final Fantasy XIV ver. 6.4, Yoshida provided a few tantalizing hints about update 6.45. The major thrust of that update is that the Blue Mage will be getting a big shakeup, including new gear, a boost to level 80, and more. Oh, and if you’re feeling impatient waiting for patch 6.4, the Hatching-Tide event kicks off on April 10 with various vaguely Easter-themed rewards.
Final Fantasy XIV can be played on PC, PS4, and PS5. Update 6.4 should launch sometime in May. You can get the lowdown on the game's current update here.
