Final Fantasy 14 is no stranger to a good crossover. Along with other series like Dragon Quest and Nier, it also likes to occassionally crossover with other Final Fantasy games, bringing series protagonists such as Lightning (FF13) and Noctis (FF15) to the world of Final Fantasy 14. Game director Naoki Yoshida attended a panel at PAX East earlier today, and it seems like the crossovers are going to keep on coming.
While Yoshida rattled off a few titles he'd still like Final Fantasy 14 to crossover with, arguably the most interesting and exciting game he mentioned was Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Cloud and the gang have yet to make an appearance in Final Fantasy 14 despite them being some of the series' most iconic characters, and Yoshida seemingly wants it to happen at some point.

Of course, it would be a bit tricky to get those characters into Final Fantasy 14 at the moment - what with Square Enix currently developing Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth - and Yoshida acknowledges this when making his request. However, he does leave the door open for a collaboration in the future, as he'd like to explore the option once "they're done with all the development and things calm down".
As for the other titles he says he'd like to crossover with, he also brings up Final Fantasy 16, albeit in true Yoshida fashion. He stated that he'd love for Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy 16 to have some kind of collaboration, but he'd need to ask the producer for the title first for permission.
