Alongside announcements of the next FFXIV expansion today at Las Vegas Fanfest, a final announcement swept the stage of the keynote: Final Fantasy XIV will be coming to Xbox systems starting with open beta in patch 6.5.
Final Fantasy XIV comes to Xbox Series X and Xbox series S. It starts in open beta in spring 2024 with patch 6.5. The keynote presentation claims the game will have faster loading times on the console. Plus, it’ll even have 4k support on Series X.
This port to Xbox systems is a digital only release, so Xbox players need to download FFXIV directly onto consoles. The new and upcoming expansion, Dawntrail, will also be fully playable on Xbox at release. This means Xbox players can go right from the open beta in spring to the full release version in summer 2024. We do not yet know if it will be available by Game Pass at any point.

Final Fantasy XIV is already available on PC, Playstation 4, and Playstation 5. This means Xbox was the missing link to bring the top of the industry MMO to full console coverage. With the PS4/5 versions of the game long out, it’s no wonder the Xbox version will be ready soon.
With new data center additions all throughout 2022, Final Fantasy XIV is in a prepared position to welcome the influx of new players from adding Xbox to their lineup. The bigger question remains if the servers will be able to handle the release of Dawntrail with the addition of Xbox, given the overloaded servers back on Endwalker release.
Nonetheless, coming this spring, anyone owning a Series X or S can jump into Eorzea from the comfort of the television screen.
