In a twist of revelation that nobody saw coming, today at the Final Fantasy 14 Las Vegas Fan Fest keynote it was announced that FFXIV and Fall Guys are doing a collaboration. This means coming in 6.5, we get Fall Guys themed content in the Gold Saucer. Here’s the scoop.
Like all good obstacle course content in FFXIV, this is coming right to the Gold Saucer. It is being called a new ‘Battle Royale’ mode. Presumably this means it is going to be an instance you can queue into anytime like Chocobo Racing, rather than a GATE. A maximum of 24 players can queue for this new mode at once. The maps we’re being shown for this game mode are an astonishingly perfect recreation of Fall Guys maps into FFXIV.

This seems to be a limited-time event like the other FFXIV collaborations, but considering it’s a whole new mode and also cross-collaborating, there is a chance it could be more permanent. FFXIV has previously collaborated with titles such as Yokai Watch, GARO, and Monster Hunter World. Monster Hunter World‘s collaboration included a permanent addition of a trial, so maybe the Gold Saucer will be permanently attached to Fall Guys content for our MGP grinding pleasure?
Fall Guys will be having a Warrior of Light Fame Pass season from August 22 to October 3 to celebrate. But 6.5 isn’t out yet, so we’ll have to be waiting for our half of the collaboration.
What possible rewards could come from this collaboration? Will we get to laugh as our friends get swept off the stage by a giant spiked rolling pin? I for one welcome the comedy potential in instance chat in this overly pastel obstacle course to come.
