Neo Berlin 2087 is kind of an odd duck, dropping out of the clear blue sky on PlayStation's YouTube channel one day looking like Unreal Engine 5's first bargain bin inhabitant. Well, we got another trailer, again on PlayStation's channel and ostensibly for Gamescom (despite ONL still being a few days away), and the title is starting to look more promising, if familiar.
Set 10 years after Cyberpunk 2077 (the two are completely unrelated), Neo Berlin 2087 is definitely trafficking in the same narrative tropes as CD Projekt Red's game, corporations own everything, technology is freaking everyone out, and anarchy is everywhere. It does appear to be heading more in the Bladerunner, Detroit direction, though, with its more investigative focus. Developed by Elysium Game Studios, it remains to be seen how this one ultimately pans out, but it's announced for PS5 and expected in 2024.
